This week, we gathered as one school community for a combined assembly to commemorate Anzac Day.

Through a number of moving contributions, we were invited not only to remember history鈥攂ut to feel it. We listened to extracts from letters written during World War I by Mrs McLarty鈥檚 husband鈥檚 grandfather, sent home to his mother from the front. Preserved in a book upon his return, his words reflect both the gravity and unexpected moments of light during those years, honouring the 鈥渦nquenchable cheerfulness, dauntless optimism, and steadfast friendships鈥� of those who served.

We also heard a powerful reflection from Scarlett S, a Year 12 History Extension student, who shared insights from her 2025 Premier鈥檚 Anzac Memorial Scholarship tour of Korea and Singapore鈥攂ringing a contemporary and personal perspective to remembrance.

Our Primary School Choir moved us deeply with a beautiful performance, accompanied by a slideshow honouring family members within our community who have served or are currently serving.

Together, we stood in solemn unity as The Last Post was sounded by our School Captain, Micah鈥攁n honour that invited quiet reflection and deep respect.

As a community, may we continue to remember with gratitude the brave men and women who gave so much, that we might live in freedom and peace today. Lest we forget.
